Bromonium ion

A bromonium ion is a reactive intermediate in the reactions of Br₂ with C-C pi bonds (e.g. alkenes). It consists of a 3-membered ring with a positive formal charge on bromine. Like other halonium ions,  bromonium ions generally react with nucleophiles at the more substituted carbon atom.
