Diethyl ether

Diethyl ether (Et₂O, CH₃CH₂OCH₂CH₃ , or sometimes just “ether”) is a simple ether commonly used as a solvent for Grignard reactions. It is relatively non-polar (dielectric constant = 4.3, dipole moment = 1.15) but is able to act as a weak Lewis base due to the lone pairs on oxygen.
