H2SO4

Sulfuric acid (H2SO4) is a strong acid (pKa = –3.0) with many applications in organic chemistry. Since its conjugate base HSO4(-) is a poor nucleophile, it is useful in situations where one wants to use an acid with a non-nucleophilic counter-ion, such as in the dehydration of alcohols.
