LDA

Lithium di-isopropyl amide (LDA) is a strong, sterically hindered base. It is useful for the formation of kinetic enolates from ketones. LDA is the conjugate base of di-isopropylamine (pKa 38) and is usually formed through deprotonation with n-butyllithium at low temperatures in the solvent tetrahydrofuran (THF).
