Vinyl

The substituent -CH₂=CH₂ is referred to as a vinyl group, such as in vinyl chloride Cl-CH₂=CH₂ and vinyl alcohol HO-CH₂=CH₂. Vinyl chloride is the monomeric unit of the important polymer polyvinylchloride (PVC).
