Acetylide
An acetylide is the conjugate base of a terminal alkyne RCCH (pKa = 25) and easily formed by treating a terminal acetylene with a strong base such as n-BuLi or NaNH2 .Acetylides are useful nucleophiles in SN2 reactions. The counter-ion M+ is usually Li(+) or Na(+).
